Kocain Cave largest cave in Turkey, also one of the largest underground spaces in the world, Kocain Cave attracted attention with its fascinating view. Kocain Cave, located near the Ahırtas village of Antalya Province, has a base area of approximately 37,000 m2. This cave has been chosen as a living space by many civilizations. We also know that it is used as a shelter in the attacks of natural disasters or other tribes. It was used as a religious area during the Christian period. In the Kocain cave there is a cistern dating from the Roman period. In 1990, declared as the first degree archaeological-natural protected area. The first 400 metres of the cave, which also contains historical ruins, turns into an inspiring landscape with sunlight.
In the research conducted in this section, the remains of settlements belonging to prehistoric and later periods were found. The four-compartment cistern, which is located in 125 m from the entrance, is one of them. In the last parts of the cave, the base is more rugged than the entrance, there are many natural formations of interesting dimensions. The most interesting of these is the cylinder-shaped column with a diameter of 4 m and a height of 35 m. The Cave of Kocain is a gigantic cave, with a gigantic huge hall and gigantic stalactites and stalagmites, and it will be a privilege to see the beauty of the ruins that we can call historical ruins and the first house structures as they progress deeper into the cave. It is a pity that there is no authority or attendant(This means that the entrance to the cave is free) in the vicinity of the cave of Kocain which has a very fascinating and impressive atmosphere. As my girlfriend and I walked a little deeper into the cave, we started to get scared. If there was a terrible accident here, no one would know. I hope this changes soon, and the authorities will confiscate the situation.
In the entrance of the cave there is an English presentation signboard. Unfortunately, some idiots bent this sign and shot them with shotguns. It’s a great place, but there are a good deals of negativity. However, if you say that would like to see the Kocain cave, I would recommend that you visit the cave in groups and take the equipment to protect you. I also suggest that you visit Karain Cave, which is located a little farther away from this cave.
