The famous Manavgat waterfall which is known as Melas river in ancient times, is one of the most important tourism resources in the region, which is formed by the Manavgat River passing through narrow and steep canyons. The source of the river comes from the slopes of the Şeytan (Devil) mountain (2130 meters high), which lies between the Seydişehir and Beyşehir lakes of the West Taurus Mountains. The largest of the sources feeding the Manavgat River is called ”Dumanlı”, which springs out from the small caves on the face of a steep rock. The water rises up to 15 meters in the form of smoke and foam and mixes with the river. Due to the carstic structure, the water flow is very strong and very cold in the waterfall where white-colored stalactites occur. You can’t hold your hand in the water for more than a few seconds. The presence of aqueducts near the waterfall is the most important evidence that emphasises the importance of the region for humanity. The high water flow of Manavgat is a suitable environment for water sports. It is also suitable for various sports such as rafting and off road in the region. It has a unique view, especially for amateur photographers and those who escape the stress of the city.
