Old Harbour is actually located near Antalya City Centre. Most of the local people still known Old Harbour as Kaleiçi. Before The ancient city of Attaleia (Antalya) establishment in the area, where old harbour located nowadays there was a pirate harbour called ” Korykos” as written on ancient sources. As,a matter of fact ”Korykos” means ”Cave Cavity”. Because of the natural structure of the cliffs makes old harbour as a port of refuge for ships. Ancient city of Attaleia, developed around the safe port and continued settlement from the 2 century BC. As you walk from the old harbour to ancient city, it is possible to see the ancient stairs and ancient walls.
Today, Old Harbour is house for boat tours and restaurants and shops. From here you can easily rent a boat for tours and you can see Antalya’s historical sights from the sea. Prices will vary according to your destination between 10-50 TL. There are plenty of fish restaurants in the old harbour. You can enjoy the taste of fish caught in the Mediterranean from these restaurants. In addition to this, it is possible to see too many ruins of historical artefacts everywhere. In order to see the Old harbour in the most beautiful way, you must follow the ancient staircase at the bottom right and reach the park that is at the top spot. You can take pictures from the glass platform, which is located end of this park (I would advise you to not look down). You can also see a variety of artworks in this park. In the many restaurants that overlook the Old harbour, you can easily enjoy a unique view while drinking your cold beer or Turkish tea (Çay). Prices vary according to where you go, you pay a maximum of 5-10 TL for a tea.
While you have seen the Old Harbour, just extra few minutes walk with you could visit Hidirlik Tower, Hadrain’s Gate, Karaalioglu Park, Clock tower, Broken Minaret, Fluted Minaret, Kaleiçi and Atatürk’s House.
