Patara beach is actually the most important beach in the world. I can explain this with few reasons for this. It is believed that St.Nicholas (Santa Claus) was born sometime around 280 A.D. in Patara, (It has been proven with historical texts and documents). We are sure that a certain part of his life has enjoyed Patara beach and has swum these wonderful waters. This is why Patara beach is a sacred place in terms of religion. Patara beach is one of the most important spawning areas of sea turtles called Loggerhead (caretta caretta), which faces extinction. They have been laying eggs on this beach for the last 40 million years. For this reason, Patara beach is important for the preservation of ecological balance. For two reasons mentioned above, Patara beach is actually the most important beach on earth. Between 15 May and 15 September, people use the Patara beach alternately with Loggerhead turtles. Between 08.00-20.00 people use, 20.00-08.00 time for the Loggerhead turtles (caretta caretta) to use the beach. From the time the Loggerhead turtles start using the the beach, people are forbidden to enter the beach. Although Patara beach is a natural protected area and transportation is a bit of a hassle, it is still visited by hundreds of thousands of local and foreign tourists every year.

Patara beach entrance fee is 7,5 TL. Loggerhead turtles spawning areas are determined by warning signs, so it is forbidden to set up parasols in most parts of the beach. You can rent and use parasols and sunbeds in specified areas. Rental fee for parasols and sunbeds around 10 TL. Patara beach is a perfect paradise for surfing enthusiasts thanks to the ever-stopping wind. There are plenty of accommodation options around Patara beach. There are also restaurants and cafés along the coast that cater to different budgets. As a last addition note, the beautiful beaches of Patara are the preferred destination for nudist tourists. As of the beginning of 2019, we will create separate videos for each destination on our YouTube account.
